Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

PlayStation 4

2015

About

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a 5v5 tactical shooter loosely based on both the book series of the same name and the games preceding this 2015 entry. Two team's of five face off in what is described as a training exercise in universe. One team act's as a counter terrorist unit, often having to defuse a bomb, while the other team simulates the terrorists. The roster consists of members of real agencies such as the FBI and SAS.

Explanation

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is an easy pick for me to place in the hall of fame. I first played this game in late 2019 when I was, for lack of a better term, forced into buying this game, and I'm glad I did. Over the course of my absurd amount of hours playing this game (1500?) I have reinforced life long friendships and even made some new ones with people I never would've ran into naturally. This game has given me cherished friends and memories that I never could or would want to change.

Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition

PlayStation 4

2014

About

Minecraft is the game that needs no introduction, unless this is your first time on the surface since 2009. This game has been a global phenomenon since it's inception five years prior to it's PlayStation 4 debut. Minecraft is the do it all game, mining, crafting, building, farming, fighting. That's like a five game genre's rolled into one infinite package.

Explanation

Just like Rainbow Six Siege I have both countless time and memories on this game. While I specifically highlighted the PlayStation 4 version as some of my favorite memories are on that console, I've been playing this game for far longer than that, with Minecraft being present in some of my earliest memories. This game quite literal has everything you could want to do in a video game, but besides all that there is one thing I'd truly like to highlight. Once you beat the game and the credits roll, the most beautiful poem I have ever read is shown on screen, all in a game about mining and crafting.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7

PlayStation 4

2020

About

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is the seventh entry in the annual Jackbox franchise. Every entry is a collection of five multiplayer focused games, with the seventh entry consisting of Quiplash 3, Champ'd Up, Talking Points, Blather Round, and The Devils and The Details. Games featured within this franchise are usually some sort of variation of drawing, fill in the blank, guessing, and at least one new original idea.

Explanation

I've never laughed harder at something than when playing this game with friends. Jackbox games, but specifically number seven, are great collections of mini games that let inside jokes run rampant. Featured within is Quiplash 3, a fill in the blank type of game and Champ'd Up, a drawing fighting game hybrid where the best drawing wins. How much enjoyment you get out of this game definitely depends on who you play with. However, the people I've chosen to play with (very close friends) always ensures hilarity.
